A Scandit Case Study
Shopkick, a popular retail loyalty and rewards app with millions of users, wanted to use the smartphone to enhance the in-store shopping experience and create a stronger connection between shoppers, products, and brands. The company needed a way to reward customers for product interactions in physical stores and drive more engagement for retail partners. Scandit’s barcode scanning technology and camera-based scanner helped make this possible.
Using Scandit, Shopkick added in-app barcode scanning to verify in-store product interactions and reward shoppers with “kicks” for engaging with items. The solution helped bridge the gap between online and in-store shopping, and Shopkick reported incremental sales for brand partners as a result. Scandit’s technology supported Shopkick’s growth into one of the most used shopping apps in the U.S., including being named Nielsen’s most used and 4th most popular shopping app in 2013.
