Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) needed to modernize critical ground handling operations while reducing costs and improving the passenger experience. Working with Scandit, SAS sought a fast, accurate scanning solution for boarding passes, passports, baggage tags, and other documents that could fit into a new mobile and web app and integrate with its complex airline IT environment.
Scandit delivered the Barcode Scanner SDK and Barcode Scanner SDK for the Web, powering SAS’s Ground Handling App across mobile devices and browsers. The rollout to more than 700 devices helped double active devices and scans in six months, while employees performed 15 times more scans in three months. SAS also cut scanner hardware costs, sped up gate and baggage workflows, and enabled more flexible, personalized service across airports.
