Coop, Switzerland’s second-largest retail group, wanted to reduce long checkout lines and create a more personalized shopping experience for its customers. To support its Passabene self-scanning mobile app, Coop chose Scandit and its Barcode Scanner SDK to enable fast, reliable in-store barcode scanning on smartphones.

Scandit implemented the mobile scanning solution so customers could scan items anywhere in the store with high speed and accuracy, even in challenging conditions like glare and varied packaging. The result was a successful rollout in over 100 stores across Switzerland, with more than 280,000 registered users and Passabene accounting for up to 25% of revenue per enabled store, while also improving customer satisfaction and engagement.
