24x7 Cashless Convenience With Scandit-Powered Scan‑and‑Go app

Valora, a retail operator with 2,700 outlets across Europe, wanted to launch scan-and-go shopping and test a compact, cashless “store in a box” format called avecBox. To support this, Valora partnered with Scandit and used Scandit’s Barcode Scanner SDK in the avecX mobile app to deliver fast self-scanning, while also enabling ID-document OCR for customer registration.

Scandit helped Valora build and integrate the app with backend systems in just five months, leading to the successful launch of the first 24/7 cashless store at Zurich main railway station. The pilot generated strong customer satisfaction and valuable feedback, including improved app usability and an English version, while proving the solution could deliver quick, reliable shopping and scalable store innovation.
