Topps, the U.S. baseball card company, wanted an innovative way to enhance the collector experience at the 2013 MLB All-Star FanFest in New York and drive engagement through a chance to win prizes. Vendor Scanbuy, through its ScanLife mobile engagement platform, helped Topps create an interactive retail experience using NFC and QR code technology.

Scanbuy placed QR codes and NFC chips on giant designated baseball cards throughout the FanFest center, allowing attendees to tap or scan with a mobile app to enter for exclusive Topps prizes. The solution also delivered consumer insights from each interaction, giving Topps valuable business intelligence from a single platform.
