Taco Bell partnered with Scanbuy to find an innovative way to promote its sponsorship of the Video Music Awards and deliver exclusive content directly from its product packaging. The challenge was to engage customers in a new way and connect them with VMA content through Taco Bell’s “Big Box Remixed” meals and large cups.

Scanbuy’s ScanLife solution placed QR codes on millions of Taco Bell packages and cups across the U.S., linking scanners to exclusive VMA teasers, artist interviews, and performance footage that was refreshed weekly. The campaign generated more than 400,000 scans in six weeks, and also provided Taco Bell with valuable audience data, including that 59% of scanners were male, 13% were repeat users, and which cities had the highest scan activity.
