OkCupid, part of InterActiveCorp’s Match.com and a leading global dating site, faced slow, cumbersome access to web server and application logs that made troubleshooting and performance issues take hours. After evaluating an ELK-based in-house solution and other products, OkCupid chose Scalyr’s log management/observability platform for its speed, ease of use, and ability to replace home-grown systems.
Scalyr was deployed quickly into production with custom parsers for all log formats and ad-hoc search capabilities, allowing engineers to find issues in seconds instead of hours—cutting log search times from hours to seconds and saving “hours a day” across expensive engineering staff. The result was markedly improved debugging and troubleshooting productivity, faster detection of anomalous traffic, and a clear path to consolidate OkCupid’s observability tooling, enabled by Scalyr.
