Grab, a Singapore-based ride-hailing, food delivery and payments company, faced scaling pain as its log volume grew to terabytes per day and its engineers could no longer rely on ssh/grep for troubleshooting. To solve this observability challenge, Grab evaluated vendors and selected Scalyr’s log management platform, attracted by its lightweight agent, multi-format support and cloud-based high-performance search UI.
Scalyr centralized Grab’s logs, metrics and alerting and delivered high-speed search and dashboards that reduced ad-hoc query times from minutes to seconds and enabled much faster root-cause analysis. As a result of the Scalyr deployment Grab consolidated operational visibility, improved responsiveness to incidents, and cut downtime by a factor of 10.
