Case Study: Molotov achieves reliable, low-cost, massively scalable TV streaming with Scality RING

A Scality Case Study

Preview of the Molotov Case Study

Scality RING storage now supports more than one million Molotov TV subscribers

Molotov, a fast-growing streaming service reinventing television with live and on-demand access to 80+ channels across devices, needed a massively scalable, highly available storage platform that could grow without downtime and keep TCO under control. To ensure 24x7x365 access for subscribers and integrate with its encoding and CDN workflows, Molotov selected Scality and deployed the Scality RING object storage.

Scality implemented the Scality RING on standard x86 hardware with NFS/CDMI connectors and erasure coding, enabling seamless integration and just-in-time scalability. The deployment delivered measurable impact: Molotov estimates a 33% up-front cost savings versus other object stores, expanded to more than three times its initial storage footprint with zero downtime, supports over one million subscribers averaging 80 minutes/day, and has maintained continuous availability and hot software upgrades — meeting or exceeding Molotov’s performance KPIs.
