Scality RING solves Dailymotion’s growing storage needs for video distribution

Dailymotion, the global video platform with 300 million users and seven hours of video uploaded every minute, needed a predictable, high-performance storage solution to support roughly 30% annual growth in content. In 2014 Dailymotion selected Scality and deployed Scality RING to replace its previous storage, addressing concerns about performance, optimization and the ability to scale without disrupting user experience.

Scality implemented a software-defined Scality RING on industry-standard HPE servers, simplifying architecture by removing intermediary protocol tiers and enabling easy, low‑cost expansion. The result: faster uploads and video delivery, lower TCO through standard x86 hardware and efficient footprint, and seamless scale from 7 usable PB in 2014 to 12 PB (2015), 22 PB (2016) and more than 30 PB by mid‑2017, with multiple RINGs deployed across Paris, New York, Singapore and Sunnyvale. Scality continues to provide the performance, reliability and capacity growth Dailymotion requires.
