Rackspace Looks to Scality RING to Create Efficiencies with Infrastructure Assets, Meet SLAs

Rackspace, a leading managed hosting and cloud services provider, needed to cut storage costs for its email hosting while maintaining 100% availability and geo-redundant durability for more than 4 million accounts. Their goals included infinite scalability, eliminating hardware failover and environment-level outages, reducing operational overhead, and enabling faster customer onboarding. To meet these requirements they evaluated software-defined storage options and selected Scality’s solution.

Scality implemented Scality RING as a stretched, active/active, multi-site object storage layer (deployed on 48 HPE Apollo 4510 servers with ~10PB RAW), delivering self-healing, non-disruptive expansion and near-zero RTO/RPO. As a result Rackspace achieved a 45% reduction in overall TCO, maintained 100% availability, decommissioned 1,800 assets and vacated a datacenter (saving millions in lease fees), and accelerated onboarding of large customers — all enabled by Scality.
