Leading telecom operator expands cloud-based services for 25+ million customers with Scality

SFR, France’s leading alternative telecom operator serving over 21 million customers, needed to consolidate internal storage for backup and archiving and to support a growing portfolio of cloud services. In 2010 SFR selected Scality’s RING for its flexibility, low TCO and easy scalability, and in 2012 expanded the platform to external offerings such as SFR Sync and SFR Backup.

Scality RING was implemented as a hardware‑agnostic, shared storage layer (running on HPE ProLiant servers) that connects internal and third‑party apps via multiple file and object connectors. The Scality deployment reduced internal storage operating costs, enabled new revenue‑generating services (backup, archiving, sync/share, CDN), and now serves over a million users with more than a dozen RING‑based applications while meeting performance, scalability and security requirements.
