LAKE dips into intelligent data storage to deliver agile backup-as-a-service offering

LAKE Solutions, a Swiss cloud service provider, needed a more flexible, secure and economical platform to deliver backup‑as‑a‑service for customers with unpredictable demands. As an HPE Platinum Partner, LAKE partnered with HPE and Scality and selected Scality RING as the object‑storage component to modernize its backup offering and meet regulatory, sovereignty and availability requirements.

Scality implemented Scality RING on HPE Apollo 4000 systems delivered through the HPE GreenLake consumption model, enabling disk‑by‑disk scaling, automatic replication across two data centers, and broad compatibility with backup tools like Veeam and Commvault. The Scality solution delivered measurable results—around a 40–50% reduction in cost per gigabyte for backup storage—while the GreenLake model provided on‑demand elasticity (including a built‑in 20% capacity buffer), stronger data security, and the ability to introduce new, profitable services.
