HPE powers an intelligent data lake with Scality

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) faced growing pain with a traditional file‑based support system that held petabytes of telemetry from tens of thousands of customer storage systems—analysts spent excessive time writing complex queries to find the right data, threatening timely issue resolution. To address this, HPE turned to object storage and partnered with Scality, evaluating and adopting Scality RING (with XDM) alongside HPE Apollo 4000 systems to build a modern intelligent data lake.

The solution—an intelligent data lake built on HPE Apollo 4000 systems and Scality RING with XDM—automatically enriches metadata, exposes S3‑compatible access, and integrates with HPE InfoSight for advanced analytics. Scality’s technology enabled dramatic improvements: query response times improved anywhere from 5X to over 1,000X (a sample search fell from 22m30s to 1.174s), ingestion rates rose 52% for the 4–5 TB/day pipeline, and the platform offers 10+ PB usable in two racks with capacity to scale past 100 PB—resulting in faster, more proactive customer support.
