The University of Paris 8 faced the challenge of urgently deploying a stable, highly available, and sovereign virtual learning environment to maintain contact with students during the COVID-19 pandemic. They turned to vendor Scaleway and its Virtual Instances to implement a reliable video conferencing solution that integrated with their existing Moodle platform.

Scaleway provided the infrastructure and collaborated with integrator Arawa to deploy the open-source BigBlueButton solution. The results were a resilient platform capable of supporting over 3,000 concurrent users across hundreds of virtual rooms with 24/7 availability. The university's CIO reported a stable infrastructure and a successful implementation, with plans to expand usage to larger classrooms and continue the collaboration.
