How DreamHack Used ScaleFT to Secure the World’s Largest Digital Festival

DreamHack, the world’s largest digital festival, needed a secure and reliable way to manage privileged access across a highly dynamic event infrastructure that spans an off-site colo and on-site servers. With only days to set up and tear down about 60 servers total, the volunteer dhtech SRE team was spending too much time dealing with brittle SSH key workflows, network glitches, and manual access management.

ScaleFT provided the solution by giving DreamHack a Zero Trust access platform with host enrollment, bastion integration, and native clients across MacOS, Windows, and Linux. Using ScaleFT and ProxyCommand-based SSH access, the team could simply connect to hosts without manually managing keys, improving speed, reliability, and security; the result was a smoother event operation with no reported hitch, and DreamHack said it was pleased to use ScaleFT again for future festivals.
