A Scale Computing Case Study
Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC) is a rural hospital in Elma, WA, providing 24-hour emergency care, level IV trauma services, urgent care, primary clinics and diagnostics. With a three‑person IT team, SPMC needed a cost‑effective, simple upgrade to its virtualization and storage environment—VMware solutions were powerful but too costly and complex for their budget and staffing.
SPMC deployed Scale Computing’s HC3 hyperconverged platform (a 4‑node HC1000 cluster), which combines servers, storage and virtualization with no external SAN or extra licensing. HC3 delivered automatic VM high availability, simple remote management and painless scale-by-adding-nodes, enabling the small IT team to manage the environment remotely, maintain uninterrupted services, and free up capacity to develop new programs that improve patient care and workflows.
