Karl Strauss Brewing Company - Customer Case Study

Karl Strauss Brewing Company, a fast-growing craft brewery based in San Diego with 600 employees and seven brewery restaurants, faced an aging server estate (17 servers) and a four-person IT team stretched thin keeping 5–10 year-old hardware running. They needed a cost-effective, easy-to-manage virtualization solution that provided high availability, off-site replication for disaster recovery, and the ability to scale as the business expanded—without the complexity and expense of a traditional VMware/Hyper-V plus SAN deployment.

They deployed Scale Computing’s HC3 hyper-converged platform (two 4-node systems) which consolidated servers, storage and virtualization into a simple, browser-managed solution. Using HC3 and HC3 Move (Double-Take) they completed P2V migrations with near-zero downtime, had VMs up in hours, gained automatic high availability and native replication to a secondary site, and removed hardware headaches—freeing IT to focus on applications while enabling affordable DR and future growth.
