NetApp and Scalar Help CIRA Accelerate Their World-Class .CA Domain

Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), the organization behind Canada’s .CA domain, needed a safe, stable, secure, and resilient storage platform to support rapid growth across production, staging, and disaster recovery environments. Working with Scalar Decisions, CIRA planned a migration to NetApp clustered Data ONTAP to improve scalability and reduce disruption as it transitioned off legacy hardware.

Scalar Decisions spearheaded the multi-site migration in partnership with CIRA’s technical team, providing project management, knowledge transfer, and strong documentation. The move to NetApp clustered Data ONTAP enabled non-disruptive volume and service movement, improved replication and backup with SnapMirror and SnapVault, and helped CIRA manage about 2.4 million domains with only one small hiccup during a three-site migration completed over two to three months.
