Mountain Equipment Co-op Improves Performance with Nimble Storage Adaptive Flash Platform

Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC), the Canadian outdoor retail co-operative, needed to improve the performance of its business intelligence data warehouse after users complained that key reports were running too slowly. MEC worked with Scalar Decisions and evaluated storage options, including Nimble Storage’s adaptive flash platform, to find a solution that could deliver near real-time reporting and integrate with its existing VMware environment.

Scalar Decisions helped MEC test the options in a proof of concept, where the Nimble CS500 stood out as the best-performing solution. With Scalar Decisions and Nimble, MEC reduced a critical report’s runtime from 45 minutes to 7 minutes, enabling the report to run multiple times per day and giving the business faster access to up-to-date information.
