Medical Council of Canada Streamlines Remote Access Management for Employees, Committee Members, and Physicians

Medical Council of Canada (MCC) needed a more user-friendly and secure way to provide remote access to its physiciansapply.ca portal for employees, committee members, physicians, and university users. The organization also wanted better application-layer visibility and intrusion prevention, and it was experiencing access issues with its existing SSL VPN across different devices and browsers. Scalar Decisions helped address these needs with a solution based on Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls and F5 Access Policy Manager (APM).

Scalar Decisions implemented and tested the new remote access environment with MCC over a six-month proof of concept and a carefully planned cutover, including staging, end-user documentation, and overnight testing. The result was a smooth transition with no downtime, fewer support calls, improved visibility into network activity, stronger detection of malicious behavior, and better user feedback and application performance.
