G&F Financial Group Modernize Data Backup with the Move to a Single, Centralized Management Console

G&F Financial Group, a British Columbia credit union serving more than 26,000 members across 13 branches, wanted to improve backup operations for its 205 employees. To streamline service and reduce the burden of managing data protection, G&F turned to Scalar Decisions for help consolidating five separate backup programs into a single, easier-to-manage environment using NetApp technology and backup software.

Scalar Decisions designed and implemented a CommVault-based backup solution that centralized management into one console, replicated data to a disaster recovery site, and supported long-term tape storage. The upgrade also included moving from a NetApp FAS2040 to a FAS2240 and reducing SAN units from five to two. As a result, G&F saved about five hours per week in backup management, gained a true “single pane of glass” for visibility, and improved overall efficiency and manageability.
