Case Study: Viking Line reduces printing costs and boosts tax-free sales with Scala

A Scala Case Study

Preview of the Viking Line Case Study

Viking Line has taken Digital Signage on board

Viking Line, the Baltic ferry operator, wanted to reduce the environmental and financial cost of printing about 2,000 sheets of cruise-program paper each day, while also improving tax-free promotions and its brand image. The company turned to Scala for a digital signage solution that could scale across its seven vessels and support future use cases.

Scala first piloted the system on the ferry Mariella, then rolled it out across Viking Line’s fleet. The solution combined an advertising network and an information network for promotions, menus, weather, news, schedules, and delays, and delivered clear results: printing costs were cut dramatically and sales of promoted products increased remarkably. Scala also met Viking Line’s usability and flexibility needs, with Mariella running 15 screens and six channels.
