University of Florida - Customer Case Study

The University of Florida, through Gator Dining Services, needed a better way to manage frequently changing menus at its largest dining hall, the Fresh Food Company. Manual updates on sneeze guards, flyers, magnet boards, and the website were time-consuming and created unnecessary paper waste. Scala was part of the digital menu board solution the university pursued to modernize this process.

Capital Signs implemented a Scala-based digital signage network with multiple LCD menu boards, a welcome screen, and a custom application tied to the dining hall’s menu database. Staff could update all screens through a simple interface, saving time every day and eliminating daily printing; the system also set the stage for automatic website updates and reporting without Excel files.
