Texas State Technical College Launches Digital Signage Technology Degree Program

Texas State Technical College wanted to launch the nation’s first digital signage technology degree program and needed a software partner to support both teaching and campus communications. The college evaluated five SaaS vendors before choosing Scala, whose tools could help students learn digital content creation, scheduling, and playlist management while also supporting a real-world campus network.

Scala implemented Scala Designer, Scala Content Manager, and Scala Player to power TSTC’s digital signage curriculum and network across multiple campuses. The solution lets students build and test campaigns, make real-time edits, and manage content for more than 50 displays; early results showed five students enrolled, with 10 more applicants expected for Fall 2010 and a projected 20 students by Fall 2011.
