Spectrum Interactive, which operates more than 600 internet desks across major UK airports, wanted to turn those high-footfall locations into a new advertising and revenue opportunity while also supporting airport messaging and promoting its existing desks. Working with Scala, Spectrum sought a centrally managed digital signage solution that could display engaging content and work reliably on screens.

Scala provided the “Desk Media Screens” solution, powered and remotely updated in real time using Scala software and supplied by Beaver Solutions. The rollout created new media sales opportunities, improved airport wayfinding and promotion, and strengthened the link between ads and the Internet Desks. The project was approved for all seven UK airports under the BAA agreement, with 17 screen sets already installed across Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted and more planned as sales expand.
