Oslo Airport Security Checkpoint Informs Travelers Using Scala-Powered Digital Signage

Oslo Airport, Norway’s main airport, needed a more effective way to manage passenger flow and provide clear information to nearly 20 million travelers a year, especially before security screening. To meet this challenge, Oslo Airport worked with Scala and its partner Digiprom AS to implement a flexible digital signage network that could display different messages in different zones and expand as the airport grows.

Scala delivered a system of 17 screens across four channels, including instructional films and tailored messages for the queue areas, fast lane, and staff checkpoint. The result was smoother passenger preparation, improved understanding of security rules, and positive feedback from travelers, with yearly surveys showing that the information was being seen and understood. Oslo Airport also gained the ability to update messages quickly for urgent situations such as alarms, weather issues, or evacuations.
