Novamedia, an advertising agency and system integrator in Taiwan, faced the challenge of capturing the attention of nearly 13 million annual visitors and commuters outside the Taipei Arena. They sought to create an impactful and memorable entertainment experience while simultaneously generating new advertising revenue opportunities. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Scala to implement a digital out-of-home (DOOH) solution powered by the Scala platform.

The solution implemented by Scala centered on a massive LED screen integrated with social media. A mobile app allowed Facebook users to submit photos, which after approval, were displayed larger than life on the screen. The Scala platform managed the entire engagement loop, notifying users when their photo would appear and even posting a webcam capture of the display back to their Facebook page. This created a highly entertaining and shareable experience. Furthermore, the flexibility of the Scala system allowed Novamedia to easily schedule and manage paid commercial advertisements and public service messages on this and two other digital signs across Taipei, centralizing updates via a web browser and helping to gain client trust.
