NASA Takes Hubble Nationwide Thanks to Scala

NASA Hubble Space Telescope’s ViewSpace program needed a better way to deliver weekly Hubble imagery and educational content to more than 100 museums and planetariums without the cost and logistics of burning, mailing, and installing CDs every month. The old process was time-consuming and pulled staff away from content creation, making it hard to scale the program.

Scala solved this with InfoChannel 3, using InfoChannel Designer 3 and InfoChannel Network Manager 3 to centrally create, update, and distribute content over the internet. The new system eliminated the production and shipping burden, kept exhibits current with on-site updates from Baltimore, and supported eight locations online with more being added; the ViewSpace program also won an American Association of Museums award for excellence in media and technology.
