A Scala Case Study
Luleå’s Smedjan shopping complex in northern Sweden needed a brighter, more reliable outdoor digital display to stand out in the region’s long dark season. Its original plasma-based system was too simplistic and not dependable enough for the investment, and the six-screen setup wasn’t delivering the visibility the mall needed.
Scala implemented Scala InfoChannel to drive the signage, including output to LED screens, replacing the old 2x3 plasma matrix with a much brighter 312-inch digital billboard and repurposing the plasmas for indoor displays. Using InfoChannel Network Manager and InfoChannel Designer, the mall could update content over the Internet and manage everything on one network; the result was a highly successful digital signage deployment with ad space fully booked for months.
