A Scala Case Study
Krystal Restaurants, the classic Southeast quick-service chain, wanted to preserve its 1950s drive-in feel while improving the customer dining experience and adding modern fast-food efficiency. Working with Scala partner Hammond Communications Group, Krystal needed a digital menu board solution for its Chattanooga location that fit the retro theme and supported ordering from the car.
Scala helped deliver a three-zone digital menu board experience combining rich media, live TV, and text crawl across multiple displays. Sensors triggered the screens as cars arrived, customers could browse the menu and place orders from their stalls, and the order was sent directly to the kitchen for delivery by car hops. The result was a more engaging, convenient experience that kept Krystal’s vintage image intact while modernizing service; the system also provided live local TV and FM audio entertainment for waiting customers.
