A Scala Case Study
Royal Show needed a flexible way to manage messaging on its large digital billboards for the Royal Easter Show, where nearly 900,000 visitors had to be informed and directed over two weeks. The event required content that could be updated constantly across multiple screens, while also supporting ad scheduling, playback accountability, and live event coverage. Royal Show used Scala’s InfoChannel software suite to meet these needs.
Scala implemented a centralized InfoChannel network with InfoChannel Player software running on five outdoor billboards. The system enabled scheduled and automated content, daily playback logs for advertisers, fresh video updates, and even hotkey-controlled live switching to arena camera feeds. The result was highly flexible signage that kept content current, improved advertiser reporting, and allowed staff to move quickly between scheduled programming and manual control in a fast-changing event environment.
