Case Study: Nanyang Technological University achieves dynamic campus communication with Scala InfoChannel

Dynamic Digital Signage Hits the Campus Nanyang Technological University Broadcasts Campus News with ChannelNTU

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) wanted a flexible in-house communication channel to share campus news, publicity, and announcements across its large Singapore campus. Working with Scala, NTU deployed ChannelNTU, a digital signage network based on the Scala InfoChannel platform, to support its mobile learning initiative and improve internal communications.

Scala implemented the solution using Scala InfoChannel Designer and Network Manager to create and schedule content across seven plasma screens on campus. The system enabled rich multimedia playback, live event broadcasts, intranet streaming, and webcasts, while being managed by a small team from NTU’s Center for Educational Development. NTU reported smooth playback, support for many file formats, and a reliable platform for campus-wide messaging and student productions, operating about 11.5 hours per day year-round.
