Case Study: Audubon Zoo achieves a more engaging café experience with Scala

Digital menu boards help New Orleans landmark grab attention

Audubon Zoo, part of New Orleans’ Audubon Nature Institute, wanted to modernize the Zoofari Café after Hurricane Katrina with a menu system that was attractive, easy to update, and aligned with its educational mission. The zoo also needed a faster, more engaging way to serve visitors without taking time away from their zoo experience. Scala’s digital signage software was part of the solution used through IDS Menus Inc.

Scala, working with IDS Menus, helped deliver four 46-inch LCD digital menu boards for the café, combining menu items with animated promotions, animal videos, and wildlife facts. The result was overwhelmingly positive: wait times improved, customers could read menus more quickly, staff spent less time updating prices and schedules, and the project was successful enough that Audubon Zoo signed on for a second digital signage installation at the Audubon Insectarium.
