Azura, P&O Cruises’ newest superliner, needed a way to keep passengers informed and entertained across the ship while supporting the cruise experience itself. The challenge was to deliver targeted, visually engaging communications on a vessel at sea, where reliability, ease of use, and integration into the ship’s design were essential. Scala was selected as the digital signage software platform for the project.

Scala helped power a shipwide network of 45 high-definition LCD and plasma screens across 15 channels, managed by the crew with Scala 5 Designer, Content Manager, and Player. The system delivers information, wayfinding, promotions, weather, news, and entertainment, including the SeaScreen and Planet Bar displays. The result was a fully integrated digital signage experience that enhanced passenger engagement and proved effective enough to be praised by Carnival UK as an impressive, practical solution.
