Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (ATM) sought to enhance its "info-mobility" project to provide a comprehensive, real-time information service for travelers in Milan. Their challenge was to deploy a reliable interactive outdoor totem network that could integrate and process real-time data from multiple sources, including transport schedules, airport flight times, and city event information. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Scala and its partner M-Cube to utilize the Scala digital communication platform.

The solution implemented by Scala’s partner, M-Cube, involved designing the network using Scala software and Samsung hardware, creating user-friendly, multi-lingual totems that provided intuitive access to integrated, real-time data. The results were highly positive, with the initial installations proving extremely reliable in all weather conditions and receiving excellent user feedback. The success has led ATM to plan a significant expansion of the interactive totem network across the city.
