A SCADAware Case Study
The Sangamon County Water Reclamation District (SCWRD) faced the challenge of replacing its aging and overtaxed wastewater treatment plants to meet growing service demand, stricter environmental regulations, and the need for greater operational efficiency without significantly increasing staffing or energy costs. To build a new "smart plant," SCWRD, on the recommendation of its engineering firm, contracted SCADAware to design and implement a comprehensive SCADA system.
SCADAware delivered a complete SCADA system that provided real-time monitoring, automated control, and efficient reporting. The solution empowered operators with data-driven decision-making, automated maintenance tracking, and remote monitoring capabilities. The results were exceptional: the new plant doubled its capacity while using a slightly lower yearly energy bill and a crew of just nine operators for two shifts, a fraction of the previously required staff. SCADAware's system also streamlined mandatory environmental reporting and continues to be supported through an ongoing service contract.
