Opsia achieves 5 cm real-time heave with SBG Systems

Opsia, a French engineering office of expert surveyors, faced the challenge of recalculating between terrestrial and bathymetric 3D models for high-resolution surveys. To solve this, they needed to combine a multibeam echo sounder with a terrestrial laser scanner and sought a solution from vendor SBG Systems to integrate and synchronize these systems.

SBG Systems provided their Ekinox-U Inertial Navigation System to synchronize both devices and handle motion compensation and data georeferencing. The results were positive, with the trajectory and combined point cloud appearing good, successfully completing a significant portion of the project and paving the way for a full combination of the mobile mapping and bathymetric systems.
