Case Study: Fraunhofer Institute IOSB advances autonomous construction vehicles with SBG Systems' Ekinox Micro

A SBG Systems Case Study

Fraunhofer Institute IOSB powers autonomous excavators with SBG Systems’ 165 g Ekinox Micro

The Fraunhofer Institute IOSB, a renowned German research organization, needed high-performance inertial sensors to enable true autonomy for its development of large-scale construction robots. To meet this challenge, they collaborated with vendor SBG Systems and implemented its Ekinox inertial sensor.

SBG Systems' solution provided the accurate and reliable real-time motion data required for precise environment perception, mapping, and navigation. This integration allowed an autonomous excavator to successfully perform soil removal and salvaging tasks and is powering the autonomy of a robotic Unimog, significantly enhancing the efficiency and safety of these operations.
