Progress Energy completes 500-MW power block 3 weeks ahead with S&B

Progress Energy engaged S&B to execute the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a new 500-megawatt combined cycle power unit, known as Power Block #3, at their Hines Energy Center in Bartow, Florida. The project required integrating the new unit with the site's existing power blocks while planning for future expansion.

S&B provided a full integrated EPC solution, installing major equipment including combustion turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and a steam turbine. S&B successfully completed the project ahead of schedule, delivering Power Block #3 three weeks early, which helped Progress Energy get the new unit online faster.
