A Saylent Case Study
Bethpage Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union on Long Island with $5.4 billion in assets, faced a critical challenge when the nationwide Target data breach threatened its members’ debit cards during the busy holiday shopping season. The credit union needed to quickly identify exposed cards, protect members from fraud, and still allow continued card use in the short term to avoid disrupting holiday spending.
Using CO‑OP Revelation powered by Saylent’s Card360, Saylent created a filter within a day to find cards used at Target during the breach window; Bethpage pulled a list of 11,000 impacted cardholders the next morning, posted alerts, tightened fraud rules, and began monitoring accounts. The credit union reissued and mailed replacement cards, offered instant-issue in branches, and kept existing cards active until January 15 — actions that limited fraud losses to just $2,000 in the first two weeks of January and preserved member confidence.
