A Savvas Learning Company Case Study
The Susie King Taylor Community School, a K-8 public charter school in Savannah, Georgia, faced a significant challenge after being identified by the state for improvement based on student performance data. Their literacy instruction was inconsistent and lacked a cohesive, research-based curriculum, which was not meeting the needs of their diverse student population. This challenge led them to seek a unified K-8 literacy solution from Savvas Learning Company, building on their prior success with the myPerspectives ELA program for grades 6-8.
Savvas implemented myView Literacy for K-5, providing a comprehensive, research-based program. The solution included a strategic rollout with a teacher pilot program and ongoing professional learning support from Savvas coaches to ensure effective implementation. As a result, the school achieved significant literacy gains, ranking #1 in the state for third-grade reading growth. Savvas helped the school earn recognition as a Georgia literacy leader and "Best of the Best" honors for two consecutive years for its sustained academic improvement.
