The University of Ottawa Embraces a Sustainable, Cloud-based Future with Saviynt

The University of Ottawa, the world’s largest bilingual public research university, faced an outdated identity management platform that was incompatible with its new Workday ERP, required 49 on‑premises servers, and relied on manual, error‑prone provisioning that created security and sustainability challenges. After an RFP, the University selected Saviynt’s cloud‑native Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) to modernize hybrid, role‑based identities and integrate with PeopleSoft and other campus systems.

Saviynt implemented a flexible, API‑driven IGA solution that connected Workday, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory and other source systems, added self‑service provisioning, and automated identity lifecycles for faculty, staff, students and third parties. The deployment eliminated 42 on‑prem servers, now manages 800,000 identity types, automated provisioning for ~46,000 students and ~11,000 employees, and improved security, compliance, operational efficiency and environmental impact.
