The United States Air Force (USAF), the world’s largest and most technologically advanced air force with over 300,000 personnel and 10,000+ aircraft and related assets, faced mounting challenges tracking dispersed assets accurately. Manual data capture produced inaccurate, untimely, or missing records (as highlighted by GAO audits), and reductions in logistics staff made efficient, automated asset visibility a critical need.

Savi built a tailored logistics informatics platform that used DoD-compliant active and passive RFID and barcoding to collect real-time location and status data, integrated with USAF ERP systems, and delivered actionable reports to logisticians. In the pilot, man-hours to locate accountable assets fell by 80%, over 99% of assets were immediately located, more than $60K in equipment was recovered and returned, and manual errors and manpower requirements were significantly reduced while data accuracy improved.
