NATO - Customer Case Study

Savi, a pioneer in active RFID technology, was engaged by the U.S. Department of Defense to address the growing complexity of multinational military supply chains. With tens of thousands of assets moving across operational theatres and coalition operations becoming the norm, military planners and logisticians needed precise, real-time location and status information to support mission planning, accountability, and fiscal controls.

Savi delivered the Savi SmartChain platform — hardened active RFID tags, a network of sensors, and integrated software that produces real-time maps, reports and automated alerts and ties into back-office accounting systems. The result was “total asset visibility”: the tags became the DoD standard, the sensor network grew into the world’s largest integrated RFID tracking system, and NATO and the Australian Defence Force adopted the solution to enable seamless, secure logistics for complex, joint operations.
