Children’s National Health System, a leading pediatric provider in Washington, D.C., faced long wait times and limited visibility into patient movement at its busy Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. With more than 100 providers and over 200 patients a day, staff struggled to track where patients were and identify bottlenecks in the paper-based workflow. Savance Health’s patient flow tools, including Patient Self Check-In, Patient Tracking & Flow, and Waiting Room Display, were used to address these challenges.
Savance Health implemented a customized solution that gave staff real-time visibility into patient status and time-stamped every step of the clinic visit, while also improving communication with families. The system helped Children’s National validate the need for two additional PCTs, reduce the time to send blood draws to the lab, and shorten the time needed to trace patient contact history for infection control from about an hour to roughly 20 minutes. With Savance Health, the clinic improved staffing decisions, reduced bottlenecks, and delivered a better patient experience.
