The Vermont Department of Public Safety Improves Security

The State of Vermont Public Safety Department, a 2,000+ employee state agency that houses the Forensics Laboratory and Emergency Operations Center in Waterbury, needed a secure way to protect critical evidence, control access to sensitive lab areas, and improve staff communication and location tracking. To address these challenges they selected Savance EIOBoard, implementing modules including Access Control Plus, Emergency Mustering, Staff Tracking and Visitor Management.

Savance EIOBoard deployed intranet software, touchscreen kiosks with HID proximity card readers integrated to the department’s Active Directory (≈2,000 users), emergency mustering hardware, and staff training. The solution eliminated paper sign-ins, centralized check-in/check-out, allowed managers to view and control who is in the building in real time, improved internal communications through chat and Outlook integration, and increased lab security—protecting evidence and improving emergency preparedness—delivering faster productivity and a quick return on investment.
