Mobify Automates JavaScript Unit Testing and Saves Time with Sauce Labs

Mobify, a platform that helps teams build adaptive and responsive websites for major retailers, needed a faster, less tedious way to run JavaScript unit tests for mobify.js. Developers were manually running QUnit tests on local devices and browsers, a labor-intensive process that slowed development, limited OS/browser coverage, and made refactoring difficult.

Mobify integrated Sauce Labs with their Grunt workflow (using the Grunt-Sauce Labs plugin) to run tests in parallel across many browser and OS combinations with a single command. The change cut JS unit testing time from about two hours to five minutes, increased test coverage, reduced manual effort, and sped up iteration so the team could catch more bugs before they reached users.
