HomeAway, a portfolio of 50 websites and hundreds of apps serving over 65 million travelers monthly, needed to maintain high web and mobile quality while speeding delivery. With 135 testers, diverse user devices and browsers, and the high cost of maintaining an internal test grid, the team struggled to scale testing fast enough to support a move to continuous delivery.
HomeAway integrated Sauce Labs’ cloud with their CI and internal tools, running Selenium and Appium scripts via TeamCity, Quick Build and a production monitoring tool (Green Screen). The setup executes about 150 scripts every ten minutes—over 20,000 parallel tests per day across Sauce VMs and via Sauce Connect for staging—enabling faster releases, broader device coverage, and reliable, continuous quality monitoring without compromising user experience.
