Animoto Uses Sauce Labs to Automate Web and Mobile Video App Testing & Free Up Developer Time

Animoto, a New York–based online video maker used by consumers and businesses, needed faster, more reliable testing to support continuous integration and frequent feature releases. Late-found regressions and a hands-on iOS certification process that could take a week were slowing releases and tying up developers.

Animoto ported tests to Selenium and Appium and moved execution to Sauce Labs, integrating with Jenkins and running hundreds of web tests and dozens of Appium iOS tests in parallel across up to 15 VMs. As a result, test runtimes dropped from over three hours to under an hour (about 30–45 minutes), iOS certification cycles fell to one–two days, regressions are caught earlier, and developers spend less time on hotfixes and more on new features.
